The MLB lockout has been one of the more frustrating sports stories to follow recently, as neither the owners nor the player's association seem to want to budge in their talks. The talks have endangered not only Spring Training, but the MLB season as well. On Friday, the MLB made a major Spring Training announcement with no end in sight for the lockout, via Mark Feinsand.

The MLB announced that Spring Training games would be postponed until no earlier than March 5. The league cited the lack of a new CBA amid the lockout as their reasoning for the cancellation of preseason contests.

The MLB said that all 30 teams will provide full refund options to fans who have purchased Spring Training tickets to games that will be cancelled following this announcement. With the lockout ongoing, the last line of the MLB's statement will be more important as the work stoppage stretches on.

The league said that the owners' “bargaining committee” will join a meeting with the MLB player's association to work at lockout talks in the hopes of avoiding a delay to the season. The league will have to try much harder than they did in their last meeting for that to occur.

Given that Spring Training games have fallen casualty to the lockout, things aren't looking good at the moment for even the most optimistic of baseball fans when it comes to the status of regular season games.
