It is safe to say that Rob Manfred and the MLB players are not on the best of terms despite the lockout coming to an end. There are plenty of different players who called Manfred out during the lockout and his reputation is quite tarnished within the league. But Manfred is reportedly working to re-establish his relationship with players by meeting with them, per Ken Rosenthal.

Will he be able to fully repair his relationship with all of the players? Most likely not.

It was just two weeks ago that veteran starting pitcher Adam Wainwright called out Manfred for not doing enough for the players.

“To just put it bluntly, he doesn't do anything for us.”

Prior to that, outspoken pitcher Marcus Stroman shared a three word response to Rob Manfred's actions during the height of the lockout.

“Manfred gotta go.”

Wainwright and Stroman certainly were not the only players who made their feelings on the MLB commissioner known to the public. And there are surely a plethora of players who hold a negative perception of Manfred who have chosen to keep their thoughts private.

Nonetheless, it is good to at least see Rob Manfred attempting to make amends with players. That should earn him some respect around the league. But if he truly wants to clean up his reputation, which has been in the dumps since the 2019 ruling on the Houston Astros cheating scandal, it is going to take time. For now, he will focus on meeting with players around the league.
