Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has already done something his Hall of Famer father Vladimir Guerrero failed to do in his storied 16-year MLB career. That the younger Guerrero did it at the tender age of 22 makes it all the more impressive.

On Monday, Guerrero went 3-for-4 with three home runs and seven RBIs against the Washington Nationals in a 9-5 Blue Jays victory:

As you can see, despite averaging 34 homers and 113 RBIs in his lengthy MLBV career, the paterfamilias Guerrero never boasted such an inflated stat line as his stout son.

The Blue Jays star completely lifted Toronto in the LLB showdown, as without his contributions, the team would’ve lost the game 5-2.

Vladimirf Guerrero Jr. is known for his larger-than-life personality and booming power, which was probably on its fullest display when he finished second to Mets rookie Pete Alonso in the 2019 Home Run Derby.

In the derby, Guerrero was unstoppable (until the final round, that is), and hit 29 homers in back-to-back rounds, which stands as the all-time MLB record. He also amassed a staggering 91 total homers in a single event–obliterating Giancarlo Stanton’s record of 61 in 2016.

Of course, the Home Run Derby is a fickle event, and Guerrero Jr. was unable to keep up the pace as Alonso bested him after the 20-year-old (at the time) seemed tuckered by the time of the Finals.

Still, he made up for it on Monday with that impressive performance, especially since the homers actually counted in a fight in the MLB.
