The Washington Nationals are reportedly in the market for a third baseman, and they have apparently set their sights on the Chicago Cubs' Kris Bryant.

This report comes via MLB insider Jon Morosi:

The Nationals are still looking to fill the hole left by Anthony Rendon, who himself signed with the Los Angeles Angels last winter.

This is also not the first time Washington has been linked to swoop in for the highly-touted 3B, with a potential trade also rumored last season. The good news for the Nationals here is that their patience on this potential deal may have paid off, considering how Bryant's value might be a bit lower than it was previously. Bryant's injuries, as well as a rather subpar showing during the 2020 season have played a factor in the same.

It remains to be seen what the Cubs could get in exchange for Bryant, but at this point, they will need to temper their expectations. Chicago should still get some value in a potential deal, but young prospects could be on the table – players like Carter Kieboom and Victor Robles.

Both of them are up-and-coming studs that have proven that they deserve to be in the big leagues, and they could potentially play key roles for the Cubs moving forward.

Nothing is guaranteed at this point, but as it appears, Kris Bryant might not be a Cub for very long. It would not be a surprise if he ends up donning the Nationals uniform next season.
