The Houston Astros’ April woes continued on Saturday as they fell to the Toronto Blue Jays by a 3-2 final score.

Not much went the Astros’ way on offense over the course of the game. Third baseman Alex Bregman opened up the contest on a stern note with a two-run home run in the first inning, but from there, Astros bats went quiet. The reigning AL champions left six men on base and also did not have a single runner get into scoring position.

As the Astros now hold a 6-8 record after dropping their fourth straight game, Bregman, as he touched on following the loss, is still much confident that the team will soon turn it around.

“Continue to work hard every single day, continue to show up ready to compete,” Bregman said.

“Its April. You can look at it that way. Continue to get after it and grind and find a way to get the job done.”

For years, the Astros have bolstered one of the more revered lineups in recent baseball memory, but this has not been the case as of late. They entered Saturday’s game against the Blue Jays ranking 28th in team batting average (.200) and tied for 22nd with the Chicago White Sox in runs scored with 44.

Overall, only three Astros hitters who earned a start on Saturday are currently hitting over .230, including Bregman (.271).

The Astros will now have an opportunity to at the least avoid a sweep against the Blue Jays in the series finale on Sunday.
