Freddie Freeman finally got his wish on Wednesday night as the Los Angeles Dodgers handed him a six-year, $162 million deal, making this team immediate World Series favorites. While it's no secret that Freeman was keen on returning to the Atlanta Braves, it appears they were just not willing to give him a six-year extension.

Per Jon Heyman, their offer was just below that:

Once Freeman made it clear he wasn't going to accept, the Braves went out and traded for Matt Olson and made him their first basemen of the future, locking him down on an eight-year contract. It's truly the end of an era in Atlanta, with Freeman spending his entire 12-year career with the franchise and finally bringing them a World Series in 2021. But, Olson should be a solid replacement considering he's one of the best power hitters in the big leagues.

As for the Dodgers, they will be absolutely thrilled. Adding Freeman's bat in the heart of a lineup with Mookie Betts, Max Muncy, Cody Bellinger, and others is going to be a scary sight for opposing pitchers. Plus, the 32-year-old grew up in Southern California which means he gets to return home and play in front of family. What better way to finish up the last six years of his career. But, Freddie Freeman will never forget his time with the Braves, the team who shaped him into the player and person he is today.
