Everyone knows that Los Angeles Dodgers ace Max Scherzer is one of the most intense players in the big leagues. He's always locked in when on the mound and you better not talk to him when it's his time to start. Well, Dave Roberts made that mistake in Scherzer's first appearance with the team against the Houston Astros on August 4th.

During their 14-4 win over the New York Mets where Scherzer threw a gem on Sunday, Roberts told the story. Take a listen:

Absolutely savage from Scherzer. Imagine telling your manager to not touch you. Most of the time, that would bother a coach but when it's one of the best pitchers to ever step on the mound, you accept it.

The righty has been lights out since joining the Dodgers, compiling a 2-0 record and 2.20 ERA in 16.1 innings, while striking out 23 hitters. It was pretty clear in Roberts' voice that he wasn't at all bothered by Scherzer's words because he knows just how much of a fierce competitor he is.

The 37-year-old is going to be a key piece of the Dodgers' hunt for another World Series this season but for now, they're just trying to chase the San Francisco Giants, who still sit four games ahead of them in the National League West.
