With the first half of the 2022 MLB season winding down, we now look ahead to the All-Star festivities. After it was announced earlier on Friday that Albert Pujols and Miguel Cabrera would be Rob Manfred's honorary selections for the All-Star Game at Dodger Stadium later this month, the starters for both the National League and American League have been revealed.

Not too many surprises here. Starting with the AL, Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk will make his first All-Star Game appearance as he continues to absolutely rake for Toronto. Vladimir Guerrero Jr will start at first base for the second straight year despite hitting just .268 so far. He does have 19 homers though, which is 13th in the MLB. A couple of Yanks in the AL lineup too in Aaron Judge, an MVP frontrunner, and his teammate, Giancarlo Stanton.

Over in the National League, Willson Contreras starts behind the dish. The Cubs catcher is the subject of tons of rumors ahead of the MLB deadline and is expected to be on the move. Cardinals stud Paul Goldschmidt, an MVP favorite, will be at first base, while Jazz Chisholm, the swagged-out infielder from the Miami Marlins, makes his first All-Star Game appearance.

The rosters will be announced on live television on Sunday night at 5:30 PM ET on ESPN.

The Futures Game is set to take place on Sunday, July 16th in LA, giving fans a glimpse of the brightest talent that will likely be in the MLB not too far down the road. The Home Run Derby is scheduled for Monday, followed by the All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 18th.

As for pitchers, they will be selected through a “player's ballot”. There will be 23 arms in total picked for the festivities at Dodger Stadium.
