Albert Pujols hit a home run for the first time since returning to the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday evening. Pujols returned to the Cardinals in the offseason after leaving via free agency in 2011.

3,855 days: That's how long it had been since his last home run for the Cardinals. While Albert Pujols enjoyed some success with the Angels and most recently, the Dodgers, Pujols will always be known as a Cardinal.

In 12 seasons in St. Louis, Pujols racked up 445 of his 679 career homers in his first tenure. Tuesday's homer was the 680th of his career, just 20 removed from the 700 milestone, a feat achieved by just three players before him.

Not only did he hit his first homer back in a Cardinal uniform, but it also took place at Busch Stadium, hence the immense uproar in the video. It was a 368-foot solo shot that put the Cardinals up 3-0 over the Royals in the first game of the series. While Pujols doesn't play first base as much as he used to, the MLB made the designed hitter league-wide, which opened up a chance for the vet to play in the National League.

It seems likely that it will be the last season in baseball for Albert Pujols. That made it only right for him to ride off into the sunset with the Cardinals, along with fellow teammate and friend Yadier Molina. The Cardinals seem poised to make a potential push for the playoffs, especially with three wild card spots now. This is only the beginning of what should be a historic year for Pujols, Molina, and the Cardinals.
