Philadelphia 76ers legend Allen Iverson's iconic quote about practice turns 18 years old today. It seems like only yesterday when the Hall of Famer uttered this controversial statement, but as it turns out, the quote is already a grown adult today.

Iverson hilariously celebrated the 18th birthday of his infamous statement by repurposing it for today's times. The former MVP winner's plea is for everyone to “practice” social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic:

For a quick trip down memory lane, here is the actual quote from Allen Iverson from back in 2002:

For some context, the media was criticizing Iverson at that time for skipping practice. The outspoken superstar fired back by reminding everyone that he was the franchise player of the Sixers, and that despite missing one practice, he is still able to get things done on the court.

We can't help but relate this to the revelation recently made on ESPN's “The Last Dance” docu-series about former Chicago Bulls forward Dennis Rodman and his mid-season vacation to Las Vegas. Not only did Rodman miss practice, but he actually went AWOL for a few days during the season. What's more amazing is how he was actually allowed to do so — well at least for the first 48 hours — by then-head coach Phil Jackson. Perhaps Iverson was channeling his inner Rodman at that time.

In all seriousness, though, it's great to hear from a legend such as Iverson also pushing to promote social distancing and staying at home. As the coronavirus continues to debilitate the whole nation, it is important that we are all reminded to do our share in helping to keep the virus at bay.
