The Boston Celtics lost to the lowly Orlando Magic Monday night at home, but they had two chances to tie the game late and send the game into overtime.

First, star point guard Kyrie Irving took a tough contested turnaround 3 from the right corner. It didn't go in. Center Al Horford got the offensive rebound, though, and kicked it out to small forward Gordon Hayward, who had a good look from distance.

Unfortunately, Hayward missed the shot, and the Magic won by a final score of 93-90.

The Celtics are now 2-2 on the young season. The Magic have the same record as well. Orlando was led in this game by Nikola Vucevic, who scored 24 points while grabbing 12 rebounds. Second-year forward Jonathan Isaac added 18 points and shooting guard Evan Fournier chipped in 14.

Boston was led in scoring by Irving, who finished with 22 points. The five-time All-Star also recorded eight rebounds and five assists. Horford registered 15 points and six rebounds. Second-year sensation Jayson Tatum struggled. The scoring forward only put up seven points on a woeful 3-of-12 shooting from the field.

There are going to be some fans in Boston who are concerned with this loss. They shouldn't be. It's still way too early in the season to panic. The Celtics are still trying to reintegrate Irving and Hayward into the offense. Both stars missed the 2018 postseason with injuries while the club went to the Eastern Conference Finals.
