Former NBA Champion Marc Gasol says he's not yet willing to retire from basketball and has thoughts of making a return to the court.

Gasol was waived by the Memphis Grizzlies in September and since then his future steps have not been revealed.  He also retired from the Spanish national team following the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The 36-year old addressed his current situation and the uncertainty of his plans in an interview with Richard Moya on “Sentido De La Birra”.

“I have to train and see what I'm going to do. I'm at the point of seeing how far I can see myself and see what I want to do when I'm at the optimum point”.

Although he was released and retired from the Spanish national team, he isn't ready to give up on professional basketball.

“I have been fortunate to have played many years in the NBA and to have experienced practically everything that can be experienced as a basketball player”, he said. “What I demand of myself is not only to be there but also to help and contribute. That demand and what that rhythm of life entails is a toll and I was beginning to not be as I would like be”.

Marc Gasol won an NBA championship in 2019 with the Toronto Raptors. In that season Gasol showed he still had a lot left in the tank and it will be interesting to see if anyone will sign the veteran center.
