Following his stellar performances so far with his new team, Jared Sullinger has agreed on the full-season extension the Shenzhen Leopards have offered him. It includes bonuses up to $1.4 million, and will keep him in China until next year, once the season ends, according to international basketball reporter David Pick.
With the lack of interest he generated from NBA teams over the summer, the 25-year-old Ohio State product decided to take his talents in the Asian country, to try and resurrect his once budding career. His decision has paid dividends so far, as not only did he continue playing professional basketball, but he also secured a lucrative deal for a whole season.
Sullinger spent five seasons in the NBA, suiting up for the Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors. He appeared in a total of 269 regular season, and 10 playoff games. He has career averages of 10.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 24.3 minutes per game.
If he continues his solid play in the CBA throughout their season, it won’t come as a complete surprise if Sullinger will receive some offers from NBA teams in the offseason. He has proven in the past that he can hold his own against some of the better big men in the league today, and it could just be a matter of finding a good fit with a team, and he may once again be given a roster spot at the highest level.
