The NBA is reducing base salaries by 20 percent of approximately 100 of the league office’s top-earning executives, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
This salary reduction includes commissioner Adam Silver and deputy commissioner Mark Tatum.
NBA spokesman Mike Bass was asked by Wojnarowski to react to the news:
“These are unprecedented times and, like other companies across all industries, we need to take short-term steps to deal with the harsh economic impact on our business and organization.”
The NBA suspended the season after Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for the coronavirus.
Jazz All-Star shooting guard Donovan Mitchell, Detroit Pistons big man Christian Wood, Brooklyn Nets superstar small forward Kevin Durant and Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart are the other named players to test positive.
Gobert recently said he has lost his sense of smell, while Wood's agent said his client is all better now.
NBA owners are hopeful of resuming the season in the summer. However, with the way this virus has been spreading and forcing cities into lockdown, odds aren't exactly in the league's favor.

Before play was suspended, Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks had the top record in the league, while LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers had the best record in the Western Conference standings.
