With the concerning news that was reported recently about the corrosive workplace environment within the Dallas Mavericks organization that stemmed from a sexual harassment issue involving their former official, the NBA is already starting to come up with steps to prevent such acts from happening again.

That said, the league office will apparently launch a hotline which all of their teams’ workers can contact to report similar issues. A memo has already been sent to all 30 franchises to inform them about it and give additional security to all team employees, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The incident with the Mavs allegedly happened three years ago, but news surfaced in an explosive Sports Illustrated piece. They have since issued an official statement letting everyone know that they are currently having their own investigation to gather all facts. They also made it known that they condemn such acts and will want to make sure it won’t occur again within their organization.

The hotline is definitely a good step for the NBA towards protecting all employees of their teams and make it known what their stand is on these unwanted acts. It may not be guaranteed that they will be able to end all instances with the hotline, but it will certainly gives the employees additional peace of mind knowing that there’s a number they could call to report any workplace issues, and expect actions to be done immediately by the league, even if it means they’ll interfere with how an organization is being ran. It could also promote culture changes and standardized practices for all, which will only make all their jobs and lives better.
