The Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics won't have their two best scorers available in their NBA showdown at Staples Center on Friday. Per Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints, Paul George and Jaylen Brown will both sit out due to injuries.
Paul George is back playing at a high level at the start of the 2020-21 campaign following the Clippers' disappointing turnout inside the NBA bubble last season. He dropped a combined 62 points in LA's last two outings against the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Brooklyn Nets.
With the 30-year-old two-way star back to his old self, the Clippers emerged as victors in 11 of their past 13 games and is currently tied with the Los Angeles Lakers for the second-best record in the West at 17-6.
PG13 is notching 24.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.2 steals, while shooting 50.8 percent from the field and 47.8 percent from deep in 20 games played so far. His absence will certainly be felt by the Clippers on both ends. NBA veteran guard Patrick Beverley has already been listed out against the Celtics due to a knee injury.
Jaylen Brown, on the other hand, is enjoying a breakout campaign in Beantown. The Celtics have struggled a bit with an 11-9 start (good for fourth in the East), but the 24-year-old scorer has been a bright spot for head coach Brad Stevens so far.
With fellow stars Jayson Tatum and Kemba Walker missing some time, Brown took on the responsibility as the go-to guy for Boston. In 20 games played so far, the NBA swingman is norming 26.4 points on 51.8 percent shooting from the field and 42.4 percent from deep. He has also evolved into a more well-rounded player, scattering 5.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.3 steals.
