Former NBA star Paul Pierce has had some questionable takes since getting hired at ESPN. During ESPN's NBA Countdown, Pierce slammed current players for being scared of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.

Furthermore, he noted that his era, which was mainly the 2000s era, wasn't afraid of James.

“Players of today are scared of LeBron James,” Pierce said on Friday.”If they see LeBron standing in front of them, they're fear-shaking. My era is out of the league, we weren't afraid of LeBron.”

It's unclear which specific players Pierce is talking about; however, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are currently battling the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals. The Nuggets, who are one of the youngest teams in the NBA, have had a tough time guarding LeBron.

However, that wasn't the questionable take Pierce had. He also said that “his era wasn't afraid of LeBron”. For what it's worth, the Celtics needed to form a “Big 3”, which included Hall of Famers Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Pierce to take down LeBron when he was with the Cleveland Cavaliers. But when LeBron joined the Miami Heat, he beat the Celtics twice in the playoffs, which ultimately ended the Celtics “Big 3”.

Nevertheless, Pierce and LeBron are known to have a well-documented feud. They were once fierce rivals when Pierce played for the Boston Celtics and LeBron for the Cavaliers and Heat. This past year, Pierce was even bold enough to leave LeBron off his top-five NBA players of all-time list.

Even if Perce is now retired, the rivalry between him and Lebron seems to remain strong.
