Houston Rockets head coach Mike D'Antoni and Indiana Pacers head coach Nate McMillan have been named the NBA Coaches of the Month for December.

Mike D'Antoni and the Rockets went 11-4 in December, while Nate McMillan and the Pacers went 12-3.

The Rockets are on fire right now and look like a championship contender again after getting off to a slow start. Houston has won 10 of its last 11 games and is 21-15 on the season.

Reigning MVP James Harden is the main reason why the Rockets are playing well, but Mike D'Antoni deserves credit too for putting his guys into positions best suited for them and the team.

The Pacers, meanwhile, are in third place in the Eastern Conference standings. Nate McMillan has his group playing sound basketball on both sides of the court.

Indiana has the No. 1 defense in the NBA right now, as they are giving up only 101.1 points per game. Pacers star shooting guard Victor Oladipo missed seven games in December due to a knee injury. Indiana went 5-2 during that stretch.

Both the Rockets and Pacers have a chance to advance to the conference finals in their respective conferences if they continue to play strong, smart basketball like they did in December.
