The purveyor of NBA news bombs, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, has no time to siren other reports; he breaks the news whenever he feels it's appropriate.
This was largely the case during the Kawhi Leonard/Paul George news, which occurred during the dead of the night for the east coast and still rather late even for California residents who learned of the shocking Los Angeles Clippers dual All-Star acquisitions on Friday evening.
Wojnarowski replied to ESPN's Oklahoma City Thunder reporter, Royce Young, “Sorry I meant to call you” after the drowsy scribe precociously tweeted that he's “awake now.”

In the dead of night, Wojnarowski broke the details of the George trade—of which Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes actually broke the initial news first. Wojnarowski detailed the framework of the deal, however. That involves George heading to Los Angeles for guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, forward Danilo Gallinari, four unprotected first-round picks, and one protected first-round pick rounding out the bulk of a deal that had to essentially seal Kawhi Leonard's approval to join George as a Clipper.
Late Friday night's bombshell deal was already coming off a huge story of Zion Williamson's first NBA Las Vegas Summer League game. Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans faced off against former Duke teammate R.J. Barrett and the New York Knicks; however, the effects of a California-based earthquake were felt at the Thomas & Mack Center, suspending and eventually ending the game.
Apparently that wasn't the only shock, though, as Wojnarowski would break landscape-changing news in the early hours the next morning.
