Everyone knew that the halftime show of the 2020 All-Star Game would have some sort of tribute to Kobe Bryant. However, what fans didn't expect was that it would also pay tribute to the Windy City's unique basketball culture.

Common, a rapper and activist who grew up on the streets of Chicago gave a powerful performance on the impact of basketball on the city and the legacy that the Black Mamba would leave behind. It was a beautiful performance that would leave the eyes of many basketball fans wet.

Hoop Central shared a video of the poetic performance:

Not only was Kobe praised in the tribute, but also the names of the NBA greats who hailed from Chi-Town. Dwyane Wade got a segment of his own as well. Michael Jordan, the greatest player to ever don a Chicago Bulls jersey, also got his time. The various streetball legends who tore up courts and rec centers throughout the city were also recognized.

The performance wasn't just a tribute to Kobe, but also a beautiful ode to the game of basketball. It was a touching tribute by one of the rap game's most prolific minds.
