The NBA Draft Lottery is officially over and the first 14 picks are set. Some teams came out as big winners after moving up further in the draft order than previously believed. Additionally, there were some losers as well as some teams lost some important draft capital.
Two teams stand out as clear winners and two teams as clear losers after the conclusion of the NBA Draft Lottery. Of course, nobody is entirely sure how good these prospects will be until they're in the league. But some clubs are now set up nicely for the offseason while others have a more difficult road to rebuild the roster.
It'll be interesting to see how the NBA Draft plays out. This year's class isn't as loaded as previous years. However, there is still some solid talent available. But there are some teams who are not much better positioned for the offseason than others. With that said, here are the biggest winners and losers of the 2024 NBA Draft Lottery.
2024 NBA Draft Lottery winners
Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks entered the NBA Draft Lottery with just a three percent chance of winning the No. 1 pick overall. They were a total long shot and came out on top anyway. This is massive for the Hawks as the front office now has plenty of options on the table to rebuild the roster. They can stick and pick and continue building around Trae Young, or make some big trades and acquire a massive haul to build for the future.
Houston Rockets

The Houston Rockets were another team with a low chance of winning the No. 1 pick overall. Although they didn't secure the top selection, the Rockets jumped way up the order and now own the third overall pick. Considering how good Houston looked in the later half of the regular season, the future looks bright for this franchise. The front office now has a chance to make a big move this offseason to better position themselves in next years playoff race.

2024 NBA Draft Lottery losers
Detroit Pistons

The Detroit Pistons were one of the teams favored to win the No. 1 pick overall of the NBA Draft. However, the Pistons fell to the fifth pick yet again. This club just can't catch a break in the NBA Draft Lottery as it feels like they continually lose out on the top pick nearly every year. Despite that, owning the fifth pick overall isn't too bad. But Detroit would have preferred a better selection in late June.
Toronto Raptors

It was a brutal day for the Toronto Raptors as they needed to fall within the top six to keep their draft pick. Instead, they fell to eighth overall and now that pick belongs to the San Antonio Spurs. For that reason, the Raptors no longer have a pick in the top 14, which isn't ideal for a franchise who largely struggled during the regular season. Luckily, they still have two picks in the 2024 NBA Draft, but they're much later than the front office would have liked.
