Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young didn't play in the Hawks' 106-100 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Monday because of a right shoulder contusion. Atlanta just got two days off after that loss ahead of a TNT showdown against the Phoenix Suns on Thursday. So, Hawks fans want to know: Is Trae Young playing vs. the Suns?
Is Hawks star Trae Young playing vs. Suns
Young is officially listed as questionable for Thursday night's game. Hawks head coach Nate McMillan announced Thursday morning that the All-Star point guard is a game-time decision, per The Athletic's Chris Kirschner.
Atlanta could really use Young back in the lineup given everything he means to the offense, especially considering this is a game against the best team in the NBA. The Suns have won 11 games in a row and currently sit at a dominant 41-9 on the season.
Article Continues BelowThe Hawks have been on the rise after a disastrous start to the season, with Young's performance at the center of it all. Before losing to the Raptors without Young, Atlanta had won seven straight games to get to 24-25 on the season. The Hawks now sit at 24-26, which is good for the No. 10 spot in the Eastern Conference.
Young was selected as an All-Star starter last week and is currently averaging 27.7 points, 9.3 assists and 4.1 rebounds while shooting 45.2% from the field and 37.6% from 3-point range. With Young leading the way, Atlanta has the No. 2 offense in the NBA.
The defense is still ranked 27th, but there have been some signs of life lately. The Hawks will need their defense to get better if they're going to make the playoffs and go on another run.
But the postseason is still a ways away. When it comes to whether Trae Young is playing tonight against the Suns, it's a question mark.
