The Atlanta Hawks have been the bottom feeders of the Eastern Conference all year, and are currently the third worst team in the NBA behind the Memphis Grizzlies and Phoenix Suns. With the team fully headed towards a rebuild and one of the top spots in the upcoming NBA Draft, there's no point in playing any key player from their rotation if they're injured.

On Monday afternoon, the Hawks announced that shooting guard Kent Bazemore would miss the remainder of the 2017-18 season with a right knee sprain.

Bazemore suffered a knee sprain against the Chicago Bulls on Sunday afternoon and did not return. The Hawks initially ruled Bazemore out for several weeks with thet sprain, but with nothing left to play for, deemed him out for the remainder of the season

The guard out of Old Dominion was the third leading scorer on the team this season behind Dennis Schroder (19.2 points) and Taurean Prince (12.9 points) averaging 12.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.5 assists, and 1.7 three-pointers per game on 42 percent shooting from the field and 39.4 percent from beyond the arc.

Bazemore should be ready to go for the start of the 2018-19 season.
