With less than a week to go before the new season tips off, the Atlanta Hawks are in the process of finalizing their roster. On Friday morning, they trimmed it down to 16 after waiving veteran point guard Will Bynum.

Bynum played in all seven preseason games for the Hawks and averaged 4.7 points, 1.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists. He had one noteworthy highlight play where he made a chase down block even LeBron James would be proud of.

The Hawks ultimately decided to go with younger guards to back-up their starter, Dennis Schroder. Rookie DeAndre Bembry and Malcolm Delaney are now expected to compete for the minutes on the court while Schroder takes his breathers.

After he found out that he didn't make the team's final lineup, Bynum took to Twitter with nothing but good words for the Hawks organization:

All is not lost for Bynum, as his performance in this year's preseason can be considered as an audition for teams who may need a veteran point guard in the future. For the meantime, an option for him is to bring his talents overseas.
