The New York Knicks entered Tuesday night as the first team on the outside of the playoffs looking in. Luckily for them, they were playing the last team currently in the play-in tournament, the Atlanta Hawks. The game was at Madison Square Garden, the mecca of basketball. Hawks superstar point guard put on a show, dropping 45 points in a Hawks victory. Despite losing the game, Knicks' youngster RJ Barrett took the opportunity to take a shot at Young, noted by Knicks reporter Stefan Bondy.

“Somebody who has the ball all game is going to score. That's a given. But definitely shouldn't have had 45. It's 3-1, the series this year against them. Overall, we did a good job,” Barrett said of Young and his performance.

Barrett is referring to the fact that the Knicks took three of four games against the Hawks this year. But knowing that that's the team the Knicks are chasing for the final playoff spot, they desperately needed this game. With the loss, the Knicks fell six games behind the Hawks for the coveted 10th spot in the eastern conference.

So, it's an interesting time to call out your opponent after a loss.

The game marked the 25th time in Young's meteoric career where he scored 40 or more points. He became only the sixth player in NBA history to accomplish that before turning 24 years old. Young joined Bob McAdoo, Wilt Chamberlain, Rick Barry, Michael Jordan and LeBron James.

His 45 points also set a career-high in front of the Madison Square Garden crowd.
