Baynes, who was previously ruled out for Sunday's matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder, will miss his 19th game for the Celtics this season.
An initial diagnosis from Brad Stevens via Jared Weiss of The Athletic suggested that Baynes would only be sidelined for a week, but it's now looking to be a little longer of an absence.
Article Continues BelowSince arriving to Boston in the 2017 offseason, the New Zealand native has essentially solidified his role as the Celtics' main low post enforcer on a nightly basis. The team will look to extend their three-game win streak against the Thunder after losing yet another key asset to injury this season.
With Baynes on the sidelines until at least the All-Star break, Daniel Theis and Guerschon Yabusele will likely see their backup roles increased behind Al Horford.
Backup big man Robert Williams will also miss Sunday's game, as the rookie is coping with back soreness.
Aron Baynes is averaging 5.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in his seventh NBA campaign. Boston is 33-19 on the season and rolling after a sluggish start.
