The Boston Celtics could have built a new stadium for them, the Boston Bruins, Boston Red Sox, and New England Patriots will all the bricks they launched from deep in Wednesday night's 91-82 home loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Celtics, playing without Jayson Tatum, shot a horrific 4/42 from behind the arc. They barely scored 80 points and lost by nine points despite taking 20 more shots from the field than the Clippers. Plus here's another tidbit from Jared Weiss just to further underscore how gruesome the Celtics with the deep ball were.
That was the 9th time in the past decade a team took 100+ shots and still scored less than 85 points, per @Sportradar.
The biggest bricklayer of them all was no other Jaylen Brown, who led Boston with 30 points, but took 30 shots and went 1/13 on his 3-point attempts.
With that said, here's a barrage of ugly facts about the Celtics' forgettable outing, via Tom Bontemps of ESPN.
Celtics finish the game 4-for-42 from 3, missing their final 15 of the game and going 1-for-18 in the fourth quarter. Boston has now lost three in a row and four of five, and hosts Phoenix in the final game of 2021 Friday.

Amazingly, Boston going 4-42 is not its worst 3-point shooting game of the season by percentage this season. The Celtics shot 2-26 against the Wizards on Oct. 30.

Also from @ESPNStatsInfo, per Second Spectrum's tracking data: Boston's effective field goal % tonight (36.63) was 19.95 percent below it's expected EFG % (56.58). That is the worst showing by any team in the NBA this season.

One final @ESPNStatsInfo stat: Boston went 4-for-39 on catch-and-shoot 3s in this game. Since Second Spectrum began tracking games in 2013-14, there have been 482 games – including this one – where a team shot at least 35 C&S 3s. Boston's shooting tonight ranked 482nd among them.

After the game, the Celtics' 3-point shooting percentage went down to 36.8.
Of course, it wasn't just Brown who seemed to have forgotten how basketball works. Al Horford went 0/7 on his 3-point tries, Payton Pritchard and Josh Richardson each went 0/5, while Brodric Thomas shot 0/3.
Well, it can't always be that bad for the Celtics. They hope that their shooting abilities return just in time for the rematch against the Phoenix Suns this Friday. Boston lost to Phoenix earlier this month on the road in a game in which the Celtics drilled just four of 26 attempts from the 3-point area.
