After deciding against getting its feet wet in the recently-concluded trade deadline frenzy, it appears that the Boston Celtics will continue to remain inactive in the buyout market.
The statement came from team general manager Danny Ainge himself, who recently spoke with Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald. The high-level executive did admit that the organization engaged in exploratory talks with a number of available free agents, but the fact that the Celtics currently have very little to offer in terms of playing time has proven to be a huge stumbling block.

Boston currently has an extra roster spot after moving Jabari Bird during the trade window, but with no prospect in sight, it seems that Ainge is happy with keeping the empty slot vacant for now.
Celtics head coach Brad Stevens does run a very tight ship, and there is very little room in his rotation to squeeze another player in. As it is, guys like R.J. Hunter and Brad Wanamaker have struggled to crack into coach Stevens' rotation, and with a relatively healthy roster, there appears to be no room for a potential signing.
The buyout market does have a lot of very interested team right now that have much more to offer than the Celtics can in terms of playing time. That being the case, it does not appear likely that Boston will be able to sign a high-profile free agent anytime soon.
