Jaylen Brown is now in his first NBA Finals after six long years. This may be his first-ever trip to the grandest stage of basketball, but it is clear that the Boston Celtics star has envisioned himself in this position many times in the past.

Right before Game 1 against the Golden State Warriors on Thursday, an old clip of Brown during his college days has resurfaced. In it, a 19-year-old Jaylen Brown talked about his incessant desire to one day be on that same stage as he witnessed the 2016 NBA Finals between the Warriors and LeBron James' Cleveland Cavaliers:

“I'm Jaylen Brown (from) California, Berkeley right up the street, one day I'll be here in this Finals,” said the Celtics swingman (h/t Bleacher Report on Twitter). “… One day I want to be in the same situation as these guys.

“I wanna get here so bad. I will be here.”

It's been more than half a decade and there have been a few bumps on the road, but Brown has finally fulfilled his dream to be in the NBA Finals. Right now, though, the Celtics star certainly won't settle for a mere participation trophy. He's dreamt to be in the Finals for many years for the sole reason of getting a shot at an NBA championship. At the moment, Brown and the Celtics are just four wins away from this ultimate goal.
