The NBA Rising Stars Challenge on Friday night gave some of the best young players in the league today an opportunity to showcase their talents on the world stage while sharing the floor together. With a number of solid performances, including Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown, throwing down a number of highlight reel worthy dunks that electrified the crowd.

That said, many are now wondering if the California product will consider joining next year's Slam Dunk Contest. Apparently, he already is, according to Jared Weiss of The Celtics Wire.

“Oh, man. No, I think the dunk contest is going to be pretty cool. I’m interested to see,” Brown told Celtics Wire at his post-game presser. “I told them I want to see what they’re going to do this year, and if they do something spectacular, then I’ll get in the next year. But I told them I’m going to see what you all got, and then I’ll see if I get in it or not.”

Since the start of the season, Brown is receiving more playing time than he did a year ago. He has responded positively to the trust head coach Brad Stevens has given him, and is proving that he deserves the chance he's getting. In the 54 games he's seen action in, the 21-year-old is averaging solid numbers of 14.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 steals in 31.6 minutes. More importantly, he has been a key piece of the Celtics rotation and made it possible for them to be one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, as they are now ranked second with a 40-19 record.

Should Brown indeed join the Slam Dunk Contest next year, he will definitely bring a lot of excitement to the event, and will give the other contestants a run for their money, including Donovan Mitchell who is now the reigning champion, and was his teammate last Friday.
