Jaylen Brown has played in 19 games this season for the Celtics and is averaging 11.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. The 22-year-old is shooting 39.8 percent from the field, 25.3 percent from beyond the arc and 62.2 percent from the free-throw line. Brown told reporters on Friday he was having some back spasms along with the lower right back ailment.
The Celtics are 12-10 on the season, sixth place in the Eastern Conference. Boston was picked by many to be the best team in the East this year, but so far, it has been a struggle for the Celtics, who are averaging only 108.1 points per game. That’s 21st in the NBA.
Boston is on a two-game winning streak heading into its matchup with the Timberwolves. They have defeated the New Orleans Pelicans and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Marcus Smart has been starting for Jaylen Brown. Minnesota is on a four-game winning streak entering Saturday. The Celtics' offense is going to have to be efficient, as the Timberwolves have one of the best defenses in the league over the past eight games.
