All season long, things have simply not looked right in Boston, and things have not sounded right, either. Whether it's Kyrie Irving backing out of his commitment to re-sign or Irving taking shots at some of the younger players, it has not exactly been kumbaya in the Celtics' locker room.
However, Celtics guard Jaylen Brown says that while there were some things that the team could have handled better, there has never actually been any bad blood between anyone:
“In hindsight, we could have been a lot better,” Brown said, according to Jackie MacMullan of ESPN. “We were trying to figure this out. Not just us in the locker room, but Brad and the front office, too.”
That's for sure.
Article Continues BelowBoston not only had to rework Irving back into the lineup after making it to the Eastern Conference Finals without him last spring, but it also had to incorporate Gordon Hayward, which was a project in and of itself:
“Maybe we did a little too much talking in the media, and then we read it, and it separated us in some sense,” added Brown. “But there's no bad blood in our locker room. There never has been.”
The C's were picked by many to finish atop the Eastern Conference this season, with a good number of people predicting they would win 60 games. Instead, the Celtics finished fourth in the East, totaling 49 wins in what was actually their lowest win total since 2016.
Boston is currently locked in a 1-1 second-round series with the Milwaukee Bucks and will host the Bucks in Game 3 on Friday night.
