Boston Celtics shooting guard Jaylen Brown is being listed as “questionable” for Tuesday's game against the Charlotte Hornets after leaving Monday morning's practice session with an illness.

According to a report from Jay Kings of The Athletic, Brown came in to practice on Monday, but wound up leaving for a checkup at an area hospital. His status for Tuesday's matchup is not clear at this point, but updates will likely be provided when appropriate.

The fact that Brown is dealing with an illness is tough news for the Celtics, as he is one of the team's primary options on offense. The former No. 3 overall pick has made 27 appearances this season, racking up averages of 20.6 points on 51.8 percent shooting from the field (40.0 percent from beyond the arc), 7.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.1 steals in 33.6 minutes per outing.

The Celtics will likely use a committee of players if Brown is unable to play in Tuesday's game. On the bright side, though, Marcus Smart returned to the lineup on Saturday after dealing with a case of viral conjunctivitis that affected both of his eyes.

Tuesday's Celtics-Hornets game is scheduled to tip inside the Spectrum Center at 3:00 p.m. ET. Boston has won five of its last six, while Charlotte is riding a five-game losing streak.
