Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday. Sure enough, the situation raised concerns on whether he'll be ready for the start of their season on October 20th.

Fortunately, Celtics head coach Ime Udoka quickly erased the worries of the fans and confirmed that Brown is well on track to return before the 2021-22 season starts. Boston will be visiting the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden to open the campaign.

“With the time frame and the quarantine we’re thinking he’ll miss the preseason, but hopefully everything goes well and he’s back before the season starts,” Udoka said, per Mass Live. “When I had it I had a 10-day period, so with that timeline he should be back. Depending on that, he’ll have a chance to get in shape and pick up where he left off. Hopefully he’s good to go by the season.”

According to the Celtics' official announcement, Jaylen Brown is currently quarantining. It is unknown where he possibly contracted the disease, though he is asymptomatic.

As Ime Udoka mentioned, though, the NBA's protocol requires players to quarantine for 10-plus days or produce two negative tests in a span of 24 hours before being allowed to return and play. Based on that timeline, Brown should be back at least a couple of days before their opener–which should be enough time to get his body ready for the showdown.

However, that timeline also means Brown is already out of the Celtics' preseason games against the Toronto Raptors, Orlando Magic and Miami Heat.
