It's no secret that Kendrick Perkins loves his Boston Celtics. This is exactly why he put C's head coach Brad Stevens on blast following the latter's comments on Boston's first-round opponents in the Brooklyn Nets.
For starters, here's what coach Brad had to say about the mighty Nets:
“We'll do our best to get ready for Brooklyn,” he said, via Keith Smith of Yahoo Sports. “They're the best of the best. As a fan of the NBA, it's hard to see those guys losing. We're going to have to play great and play great together.”
Perkins clearly thought that Stevens was being too soft with his affectionate comments on Brooklyn so the former NBA champ made sure to make his feelings known:

“Brad Stevens, if you love Brooklyn that much, why don’t you go coach them? Go join the coaching staff,” Perkins said (h/t Dan Lyons of The Spun). “Listen, I played for the Boston Celtics for eight-and-a-half years. I know the definition of ‘the City of Champions.’ They have something called Celtic pride. That wasn’t Celtic pride.
“And no, I wouldn’t want to play with Brad Stevens. How can I go to war with a coach that is praising and glorifying an opponent that I possibly could upset? How about saying ‘Hey, we’re going to be prepared, we’re going to be ready. I know you’re crowning them, but I got enough, and we’re going to come to compete.’ How about saying that, Brad Stevens.”
Perk did not hold back with his comments here. He clearly did not like Stevens' mentality heading into the Nets series and he absolutely blasted the Celtics head coach for it.
There's no denying that the Nets are the favorites in the opening-round series. Everyone knows that they're also the title favorites with so much on the line for them. However, Perk does have a point here about going into battle with a losing mentality.
