Boston Celtics star point guard Kyrie Irving put on a show on Christmas Day versus the Philadelphia 76ers, and the fans in Boston can thank Irving's family for the spectacular performance.

Irving scored 40 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Celtics' 121-114 win over the Sixers in overtime. While speaking to reporters postgame, Irving said he had a lot of family in attendance at the game and wanted to play well for them:

“I came into the locker room and said my family is here to watch me play,” Irving said, via Taylor C. Snow of NBA.com. “I told my teammates, ‘I’ve got like 20-plus people from my family here, so I’m acting up. Like you guys have no idea, I’m so excited.’

“I never really have a chance to have my family all in one place, or most of my family, for that matter. So, it means a lot to me.”

NBA players always want to play on the big stage, but when they have family in the crowd, their adrenaline is even higher. That's exactly what happened with Kyrie Irving on Christmas. The five-time All-Star was in a zone from start to finish, shooting 17-of-33 from the field, 5-of-10 from beyond the arc and 1-of-1 from the free-throw line.

No matter who the Sixers threw at him on defense, Irving was scoring at will. Philadelphia All-Star small forward Jimmy Butler tried his best, but even he couldn't stop Uncle Drew from scoring and hitting clutch shots. Irving hit a nasty turnaround jumper against Butler to tie the game at the end of regulation and hit two daggers in overtime to send the Celtics crowd home happy.
