The Boston Celtics defeated the Philadelphia 76ers at home on Christmas Day, and star point guard Kyrie Irving put on a memorable performance.
In 40 minutes of action, Kyrie Irving finished with 40 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists in the Celtics' win, etching his name next to Boston legend Paul Pierce.
By scoring 40 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, Kyrie Irving recorded the Celtics' first 40-point, 10-rebound game since Paul Pierce did it on Dec. 2, 2005.

Irving and Nike released a commercial before the season started in which the Celtics star is playing one-on-one against his father, Drederick Irving. In the commercial, Irving says he wants to have his No. 11 jersey retired by the Celtics one day. If he continues to have performances like this where he's putting his name next to other Boston greats such as Paul Pierce, Irving is well on his way to accomplishing that goal.
The Celtics are now 20-13 on the season and 11-15 at home. As he usually does, Kyrie Irving took the game over in the clutch, hitting the game-tying shot against Sixers small forward Jimmy Butler near the end of regulation, and putting the game on ice in overtime.
Boston has won two games in a row since the well-publicized team meeting took place.
