Boston Celtics guard Kyrie Irving is making the case for his woke-ness practically every day.
From his flat-earth talk to his opinions on other conspiracy theories, Irving has made headlines all season with his wonky words.
But during a recent interview, he gave his views on something more related to the game he plays professionally. He likened basketball to a form of art, per Jared Weiss of Celtics Wire.
Article Continues Below“It’s just a constant masterpiece that you have to paint,” Irving said. “Sometimes it’s going to be all scribble and stuff like that. It’s okay to get out of the lines. That’s the way I think of it sometimes or, excuse me, most of the time when I’m describing it and watching it. Just watching so many different details that I need to do in order to think about the best way to get a win.”
Now there's a take basketball fans can agree with. Many people have heard the basketball-as-jazz comparison, and Irving's take is just an extension of that.
Irving may say a lot of suspect-sounding things, many of which he has no business talking about because he's not intimately familiar with the topics. But on basketball, Irving has license to make just about as many comparisons as he wants.
