It was just a year ago since the NBA world was sent upside down with Kyrie Irving requesting a trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers and eventually landing with the Boston Celtics.
Irving ended up getting traded to the Boston Celtics and found out of the news while filming the “Uncle Drew” movie.
Nick Kroll who was on the set the day that the news dropped talked about it with Colin Cowherd.
Article Continues BelowKroll said that Irving finished the scene they were working on, and then ran off the set in celebration. The most surprising part of the interview was Kroll saying he didn't think Irving was celebrating because he hated LeBron James, but rather that he was happy he was traded to a contender.
When Irving requested a trade, he took a risk because the Cavs could have traded him to anywhere. He could have ended up with a team like the Orlando Magic or Atlanta Hawks, and last season wouldn't have been as fun.
Now the next big question for the Celtics and Irving is what's next. There have been rumors that Irving isn't going to sign an extension with the Celtics, so could they now trade Irving and try to get something in return before he leaves in free agency.
The Celtics were able to have all the success in the playoffs without Irving, so although he is still an important part of the team, his value seems to have diminished a bit.
Uncle Drew starting Kyrie Irving will have a full release in the United States on June 29th.
