Robert Williams of Texas A&M slipped on draft night and ended up being taken by the Boston Celtics with the 27th overall pick. There were some that believed he could be a lottery pick, so Williams almost falling out of the first round was a shock.
Williams, however, wasn't concerned about the fall, and called being selected by the Celtics a “blessing.”
There were many who thought he would leave after his freshman year with the Aggies, but he decided to come back for one more year at school, and he doesn't have any regrets.

Williams is a good defender who plays with a lot of energy when he wants to, but there have been some questions about his drive. Under Brad Stevens, if you don't compete you won't see the floor, so if Williams wants to play he is going to have to compete.
Williams should make a good backup center behind Al Horford, a need that the Celtics were looking to address this offseason.
“I feel like I love defense,” he said. “I feel like most of all, I thrive off of defense. Defensive stopper, and I feel like the energy . . . the Celtics thrive off of defense, just the excitement from simple hustle plays as far as diving on the floor.
It looks like Danny Ainge might have done it again, and got another steal in the draft.
