Boston Celtics point guard Terry Rozier is set to become a restricted free agent after this season. While Rozier could receive a nice contract offer this summer, going back to a smaller role this season after last year's playoff run was tough for him.

Speaking to ESPN's Jackie MacMullan, Rozier described the change and how he had to adjust his mindset in a contract season:

“I felt like I went from the passenger seat to the trunk,” Rozier said. “Everybody tells you, ‘Don't think about the contract, don't think about the money.' I always tell myself, ‘I'll get what I deserve one day. Maybe not this day, but one day.'”

Rozier became the primary point guard for the Celtics while Kyrie Irving rehabbed from his knee injury last season. During Boston's playoff run last year, Rozier became a force for the team, helping them to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Unfortunately for Rozier, he saw his playing time drop significantly this season after Irving returned, only averaging 22.7 minutes. He saw his overall numbers drop a bit as well, with the guard putting up just 9.0 points and 2.9 assists per game while shooting 38.7% from the field and 35.3% from 3.

While Rozier has had his struggles this season, he still is playing an important role for Boston. The Celtics are tied 1-1 with the Milwaukee Bucks with a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals on the line, and they'll need Rozier to play well off the bench. If he can perform well during a deep Boston run, he'll help himself earn more money in free agency.
