It’s time to update the Boston Celtics‘ rookie count for this upcoming season. That’s after news broke out that the team is expected to sign this year’s 37th pick overall in the NBA Draft, Semi Ojeleye, to a four-year contract according to Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe.
The Celtics are planning to sign rookie forward Semi Ojeleye to a four-year deal, first two years guaranteed, per league source.

The 6-foot-8 forward out of SMU has been leaving good impressions of late with his play in the Summer League mainly because of his versatility and athleticism. In three games, Ojeleye has put up 6.0 points and 3.7 rebounds per contest. But it was his stint with the Mustangs in college that truly helped him turn heads of scouts. During the 2016-17 NCAA season, Ojeleye mustered 18.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, leading the team to an appearance in the national tournament and earning himself AAC Player of the Year honors. He played his first two years in college for the Duke Blue Devils before transferring to SMU.
To make some salary cap space for Ojeleye, the Celtics cut ties with guard Demetrius Jackson as reported by Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald.
Celtics to waive Demetrius Jackson, avoid paying his $650,000 guarantee. His initial indication is he'll likely not play in SL game tonight.
