Dennis Schroder's name has been thrown in trade rumors once again, and according to latest reports, the odds are increasing that the Boston Celtics will part ways with him.
As reported by NBA insider Marc Stein, Schroder is the likeliest trade candidate for the Celtics. While there have been recent rumors of the team moving Jaylen Brown given the lack of success they had with his partnership with Jayson Tatum, that is apparently not the case.
The Beantown team is also hesitant about trading Marcus Smart, which makes Schroder the easiest player to move.
Per Stein on Substack:

Also climbing on Most Likely To Be Traded lists leaguewide: Boston’s Dennis Schroder. The Celtics do not want to break up their Jayson Tatum/Jaylen Brown duo, no matter how much skepticism continues to circulate about how well they function together, and mixed signals persist about new team president of basketball operations Brad Stevens’ true willingness to part with Marcus Smart.
The Celtics have been up-and-down this 2021-22 season. Entering Friday's game against the Golden State Warriors, they were at 14-14 and outside looking in of the playoff picture. With that said, many deem it necessary for the franchise to make some tweaks on the roster.
For what it's worth, Dennis Schroder's name has been thrown a lot in recent trade rumors because of his contract and current production. After signing a one-year deal, the backup guard is proving to be quite the offseason pick for the Celtics with his averages of 17.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.8 assists on 43.8 percent shooting per game.
Schroder could certainly garner a lot of interest if the Celtics make him available, the only question is: what do they like to get in return?
