The New York Knicks are emerging as a potential suitor for Boston Celtics free agent point guard Terry Rozier, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Rozier is a restricted free agent, so the Celtics can match any offer so long as they make a qualifying offer to Rozier. However, with recent reports of Boston's interest in Kemba Walker, it's looking like the C's may be willing to move on from Scary Terry.

In order to have enough cap space to sign Walker to a max deal, the Celtics would have to renounce Rozier — a move which would make him an unrestricted free agent and open the door for teams like the Knicks to sign him without having to worry about Boston matching.

Rozier is coming off of a rough 2018-19 campaign in which he played 79 games and averaged 9.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists over 22.7 minutes per game while shooting 38.7 percent from the floor, 35.3 percent from 3-point range and 78.5 percent from the free-throw line.

The 25-year-old had a difficult time re-adjusting to a bench role after the return of Kyrie Irving. To recall, Rozier took the reins as the Celtics' starting point guard late during the 2017-18 season after Irving was knocked out due by a knee injury knee injury. Rozier then went on to have a very impressive playoff run, helping lead an undermanned Boston squad to the Eastern Conference Finals.

However, this year, Rozier was a malcontent in Boston's locker room. In fact, after the season, he shed light on why he struggled so much, noting his jealousy of the fans' love for Irving as a big factor in his underwhelming campaign.
