It has been nearly two months since veteran guard Avery Bradley was traded from the Boston Celtics to the Detroit Pistons in a surprise move.

With a few months to truly assess the situation, Bradley divulged during an interview with Gerald Narciso of Bleacher Report that he had an inkling he would be dealt away.

“Yeah, I knew it would be a hard decision. I was open to it, though. I knew if I didn't sign this summer that it was going to be a possibility that I could be moved because it's beneficial for both parties, you know, for Avery Bradley and the Celtics.

“At the end of the day, I want to do what's best for me, and they have to do what's best for them. They felt like it would be a better opportunity for me somewhere else to give me a chance to not only continue to grow my game but for me to have an opportunity to take care of my family.”

What may have been the deciding factor for the Celtics was that Bradley is set to enter the final year of his four-year, $32 million deal worth $8.8 million. He would likely seek a lucrative deal in free agency next summer that will have likely been out of the price range that Boston would be willing to pay.

Bradley has developed into one of the league's best two-way players who is coming off his best individual campaign where he averaged a career-high 16.3 points on 46.3 percent shooting from the field and 39 percent from beyond the arc.

He is also regarded as being one of the league's best defenders as he has earned an NBA All-Defensive First Team nod and an NBA All-Defensive Second Team in his NBA career. Bradley has a chance to expand on that in his first season with the Pistons.
