When the 2021-22 season started, the Boston Celtics looked like they were not going to make the postseason–or if they do, it would be because of the play-in. Fast forward seven months later, they finished second in the East and made it all the way to the NBA Finals against Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors.

The Celtics' turnaround from a franchise struggling under a new coach to becoming a title contender has been phenomenal, and according to Green, he knows exactly what happened.

“Most important, they found an identity as a team,” Greens said when asked the difference between the Celtics now and earlier in the season, per A. Sherrod Blakely of Full Court Press.

Sure enough, Draymond Green couldn't have said it any better. The Celtics looked out of sorts at the start of the season as they transition with a new coach and a couple of new players on the roster. By the second half of the year, though, they got things figured out and transformed into a defensive juggernaut who can also punish their opponents on offense.

After going 19-21 in the first 40 games of the campaign, things started to click for them and finished on a high note with a 32-10 record in the last 42 matches. They carried that momentum into the playoffs, and they are now leading the NBA Finals 1-0.

It remains to be seen if the Warriors can stop their hot streak, but Green and the rest of the team knows it will be difficult.
