Brooklyn Nets star James Harden have been in contention for the MVP award ever since he left the Oklahoma City Thunder. He finally won one back in 2017-18, though his trainer believes it should have been more.

Per Kristian Winfield of New York Daily News, Harden's trainer in Houston, Justin Allen, claimed that the now-Nets guard deserved more than just his current one MVP silverware… three to four to be exact.

“I think he’s been robbed in about three of them,” Allen said. “I think he should be a three- or four-time MVP for sure.”

While it might sound ridiculous to some, it's easy to see where James Harden's trainer is coming from. The Beard is a perennial MVP candidate, and it can be argued that he had a legitimate case to be MVP in the years he was a finalist.

The Nets star finished 13th in the 2020-21 MVP voting–which Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic won–but he was a finalist in both the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons. As mentioned he won in 2017-18, but it is also worth noting that he made it to the Top 3 in MVP voting in 2014-15 and 2016-17.

Considering his consistency, it's not surprising why the trainer of the Nets star is shocked to see him with just one MVP trophy.

Of course, saying he was robbed might be an exaggeration considering that the past winners are equally deserving. However, no one can take it from him that he could have really won more silverware in the past years.

Hopefully for the Nets, though, Harden can recapture his MVP form and help lead Brooklyn to the promised land alongside Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
