It's hard to deny that Brooklyn Nets superstar Kyrie Irving is portrayed by the media as a bit of an odd character. While Kyrie himself might be partly to blame for his image, this does not take away from the fact that the Nets guard is actually a pretty good guy.

A clip that is recently making its rounds on social media features Irving handing out some money to a random street vendor in Chicago. Kyrie just had to reach out to the kid who was selling food for his family (h/t Bleacher Report on Twitter):

This is no publicity stunt from Irving. The Nets guard is not exactly a darling of the media, but this has nothing to do with the fact that he oftentimes goes out of his way to help those in need. We're not sure how much money he gave the kid in the video, but it was probably enough to help his family get by for a few days.

It's these types of endearing stories that make you think twice about what type of person Irving really is. He may have his quirks, but it looks like deep down, he's a pretty heads-up dude.

Recently, former teammate Jayson Tatum shared his true thoughts on Irving. The pair were teammates with the Boston Celtics before Irving's rather contentious exit. The “bad teammate” narrative has always been bestowed on Kyrie, but based on Tatum's own account, Irving has actually become one of his best friends to this very day.

The lesson here: there are always two sides to every story.
