ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith loves to be controversial. That's what makes him such a popular figure across the United States. When it comes to the NBA, he's always giving extremely bold takes. His latest one involving Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant could very well be true, but it will definitely piss off LeBron James. Take a look:
Kevin Durant is the BEST player in the WORLD. PERIOD! pic.twitter.com/VwryWnJXVO

Best player in the world? Above LeBron?! I mean, Durant is definitely the best scorer in the Association. But as an all-around player, that could be debatable. Nevertheless, KD proved his worth last season and in the Tokyo Olympics. With the Nets, Durant basically willed his team to the brink of an NBA Finals appearance, averaging over 30 points in the playoffs. If Kyrie Irving and James Harden stayed healthy, there's little doubt that Brooklyn would've been competing for a title.

Then for Team USA, KD was absolutely dominant. Without him, there's no chance the States win the gold medal. The Nets big man can literally do it all offensively. For a seven-footer, Durant can score from anywhere on the floor and possesses athleticism that is unheard of for a player of his stature.
KD took his legacy to another level in 2020/21 for the Nets and clearly, he has a fan in Stephen A. Smith. This is just one man's opinion, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see a lot of people agree with Smith. Kevin Durant is really that talented.
