Earlier this week, Brooklyn Nets starting point guard D'Angelo Russell got “Thank you Magic” chants from the Brooklyn crowd, as the home fans were thanking Los Angeles Lakers president of basketball operations Magic Johnson for trading the lefty.

Saturday night in Atlanta, Russell got a different type of chant from the Hawks crowd.

At the free-throw line shooting two shots, Russell got “You're a snitch” chants from the Hawks fans. Russell made both free-throws and then signaled to the crowd.

When he was with the Los Angeles Lakers, D'Angelo Russell had a well-publicized incident with shooting guard Nick Young. Russell was recording Young on his phone while the veteran guard was talking about his personal life.

The video got leaked and Russell became the enemy in Los Angeles. It was a bad look for the former No. 2 overall pick.

Since that incident, though, Russell has been a new man with the Nets. He became an All-Star this season and is the main reason why Brooklyn is in the playoff hunt.

Entering Saturday, Russell was averaging 20.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game while shooting 43.6 percent from the field, 36.8 percent from beyond the arc and 82.1 percent from the free-throw line.
